Welcome to my garden page. I will be adding more pictures as my garden grows ;o) For now we have the beginning of spring, and a few extra pictures from my grandmother's house I thought was interesting. ![]()
This is a pineapple plant. My mother brought it back from Hawaii for my aunt (whom by grandmother lives with) in 1985, and it has always been inside. Maybe one day it will grow pineapples? I always remember it being there, but only til this past mother's day did I find out what kind of plant it was....how neat! ![]()
This is just some sort of vine plant by aunt has been growing over the years. You can see from the pictures how lloonnggg it is getting. She also has the same kind of plant outside in a hanging basket, and she has to cut it somewhat often because it gets so long. She cut me off some pieces to start at my house the day I was there. It is just starting to root well. I would like to have it wrap the columns on my porch! :o)
I have no idea what this plant is called but I LOVE it! A friend gave it to me a couple years ago, and I only started with two (pretty small) clippings of it. It has spread pretty fast, I think. Last year it bloomed one bloom, this year it is covered. It has small, purple blooms, and it very pretty. I plan on getting another picture up to show all the blooms soon. :o) ![]()
The first picture is my hollyhock. It is planted in the stump of an old tree that had been cut down for years. We noticed the stump was hollow, so we decided to plant the hollyhock in there. It has grown beautifully. I will put up more pictures of it as it gets taller. (Which will be soon.) The second picture is of my iris in front of my porch. Last year I dug up all the iris in my flowerbed (in the front yard) to replant and space them. I did not get to these, and was very suprised at how beautiful they turned out! The greenery got to be about 2.5 feet tall, and the stalks of the flowers got to be 3 feet tall! They were as tall as Jackson! It also had 5 blooms come out on one stalk. :o) The picture below is of the same iris. ![]()
The picture on the right is of one of my many izalea bushes. We planted 16 one gallon plants 2 years ago. They are growing quite nicely, some of them. Others have been stepped on and demolished by Jackson, and accidentally mowed over. :o( This concludes the tour of my gardens for now, be sure to check back for updates!!
