The Tootsie Roll Chronicles
Today was day one of the Toots Chronicles, June 13th, 2005 is the day we began this journey with her starting back in a place somewhere between Loogotee and Jasper and ending up in Christmas Lake Village, where we are currently at. Toots was born on April Fool's day (April 1st) and I know for a fact that she had at least one brother and a sister. The woman we got her from had been nice enough to get Toots from her friends who had the puppies, along with a male and another female, and bring them to her greenhouse to try to sell them for the other people. The male was gone when we got to Toots but the other female was still there so we had a hard choice to make. Thank God we picked Toots! She was the chubbier puppy and since she was a female she cost $200. She is a full blooded Chocolate Lab as were her parents and grandparents and great grandparents and everybody else in her family. She is AKC registered under the name Tootsie Roll which I came up with in the car on the day I got her before we actually picked her up. She has an Orange Collar and a Blue leash with little bones in different shades of blue on it. She also had a big bag of treats that we got today and some of her IAMs Large breed puppy food and some Champion "Healthy start" puppy food mixed in. She is friends with Crookshanks now and has already had her first swim in Lake Noel. She walks good on a leash so far but she picks up the leash and carries it in her mouth if you don't hold it tight enough. She is on the way to knowing "sit" and pretty well knows her name. She has learned to stay away from the little white invisible fence flags already and is outside right now near Sport's old dog house which is Baby Blue and has straw and a Navy Blue blanket that also used to be Sport's in it and her dog food and water. Toots ran after the tennis ball earlier when I threw it and after a while she figured out how to pick it up and carry it around. Her mouth is almost too small!! I haven't taped her any yet but I probably will tomorrow! I took some pictures with my normal and digital cameras though! If you hold onto a treat after she has it in her mouth she'll play tug of war with you until you drop the treat. She is asleep outside right now in front of her dog house with Crookshanks. I hope to be able to type more tomorrow!
