Rainforests
quivering
with day breaking
collapsing into night
Silver ropes
gutting trees
shredding leaves
strangling branches
whose long limbs burn to black
and stretching paint the earth with charcoal fingers
still still
though drops of rain slip through
the ferny heights and
fall about the
shadows
inaudibly
plinking
on the
earth
