| ������� �����: ___________________________________________________________________________ �������: Counter Attack Magazine #5 Frozen Tears are indisputably the best Bulgarian Black Metal band at the moment.They proved that a really good album with an awesome atmosphere can be created in Bulgaria. let's start with the first traces Frozen Tears left in the underground... The first thing was the recording of our demo, then were the good responses on the national radio-feb. ' 99.The band has began in the end of '97.In '99 we were many times in Grafitty Studio(one of the better here)-we wanted recording that had a good quality and we concider that in resilt this was done. The lyrics are in Bulgarian.Is this the best way how to express Frozen Tears? Yes, it is our native language and we'll continue so. So, this means that you want to reach to a popularity abroad... Of course, we are making music for many listeners and we want our music to be heard by foreigners. There are folk elements in our music... We would like to do it more in the future.My family has been for a long time connected with folklore. My father still plays in a band performing authentic national songs around the country. We grew up surrounded by this spirit and so we use it in our music and somethimes it big. Also Radko-our keyboards player...he used to play for aboat 6 years in a national choir ensemble and has rewards also etc... Are you going to invite guest musicans for acoustic performances? We'll have a piece for the second album that is with uneven rhythm and thoroughly folkloric female and male vocals and authentic instruments. This is a historical song about the Bulgarian tzar Samuil - we would like to express our connection to this time, the folklore and the Bulgarian as a whole. What is to be done will be achieved together with the modern equipment and sound, and we hope that it's gonna be a new thing! Talking about such things, how are you on the theme about christianity? For me this is not interesting and I don't bother about it very much. Do you thing that a band can have some ideas and music when it follows the example of some other band? No. There's always innovation...and creativity most of all, when it comes to the great bands and each one of them has its own style, and they have developed themselves through this style. All that follows will loose attention. Is it difficult to be a band in Bulgaria? Don't you want to live somewhere alse, in the States for example? We'd have been very satisfied if a band really had change to be a real band - in the total sense of this words - as a band might feel in the States, but sorry ... the conditions are very bad here. No musical culture, no goverment ideas. It is very difficult to make music in Bulgaria. Will you develop the extreme part of your misic? The extreme and the tender will walk hand in hand. What art do you like? I real a lot ... my fovorite author is Francois Vijon. I'm also into all kinds of mythologies . Radko is quite in the accurate science and computers. Milko - our drummer, is an airplane engineer draduate. Jana is interested very much in fashion and desing. She made by herself the dress for the photographs on the inside cover of the album. The women in the scene have all kinds of different apperrances and presence etc., but in your case the combination of both the vocals is ... so to say, one of a kind? For me, Jana has a voice and I told myself that she had to be the moment I heard her singing. There are my influences if we are talking about the vocals arrangement , but her type of voice perfectly fits with my vision about the female voice. Stoyan also puts very much into this. He's my brother, and grew up with his roaring ... years listening to him. How are you going to finish this conversation ... a few words about the new material - what can we expect from Frozen Tears? It's clear that the new material is going to be more complete both ways - idea and performance. We'll go to a couple of concerts during the summer and if everything works out well, we'll enter to record the new material by the end of the year. It's going to be an upward work ans achiavement. |
