fermented and distilled molasses. Light rums are usually produced in Puerto
Rico, Barbados, Cuba, etc...and do not age for very long. Dark rums come
mostly from Jamaica, Martinique, Haiti, etc…and can mature from 3 to 12 years.
Usually their colour is due to the aging process, but sometimes caramel is
added to the spirit. Now you can find very different types of rum, in many
flavours and varieties.
