Thanks, Kay, for your contribution to the staffing of our Armed Forces, let alone supporting them!!! Picture 1 Kay Atwood White had some famous "patients" when she interned as a clinical laboratory scientist in southern California. She drew blood from Muhammad Ali, Richard Burton, Walter Matthau and the most famous pin-up girl ever; Betty Grable!! Ken Bus, our Senior Class President, still impresses. You can read it at: http://www.saudi-us-relations.org/articles/2007/ioi/071010-saudi-students.html Paul Hammel graduated from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard with a Doctorate in Chiropractic in 1978, and practiced 1 year in NY City and 1 year in Atlanta Ga. He enlisted in the Army in 1981. Paul says "I meant to get out after the initial 6 year tour as a Pilot and return to Chiropractic but never did." He went to the US Army Flight School at Ft Rucker Al, and graduated flight training 11 Oct 1983. "I was appointed a Warrant Officer. WO1. I flew the UH1-H and V models (Huey) for 15 years as a Flight Instructor and Safety Program manager. I had tours all throughout Central and South America during the El Salvador/Sandanista/Contra war. I was promoted to CW4 in December 1998 and was transitioned into the UH-60A/L model Blackhawk Utility Combat Support Helicopter. I flew those for 11 years and served as Pilot in Command, Medevac and as Safety Program manager. I went to the Bosnian conflict and the Haitian Government stabilization conflict 2 times each. I retired as a CW4 1 Nov 2007 after 27 years." Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4 Robin King Cooper packed up her husband and an entourage of pets in 1972 and traveled north to graduate school at the University of Minnesota for a Ph.D. in psychology. After a book (Every Woman Works, 1982) a dissertation (Occupational Stress in Police Work, 1986), a stint as a police psychologist (my "Wild, wild west years"), work with victims of trauma, 15 years working as an industrial/organizational psychologist/executive coach along with 25 years in private clinical practice, university teaching, two children, divorce, 12 years of single parenting, a new partner, and grandchildren, I thought I might meander down to Illinois again and check in with some homies. I've had a professional interest in career development for a long time, so I find it interesting as I close in on 60 that I'm back to expanding my interests in dance, poetry, writing and the arts - all the areas that show up in my yearbook captions. He is Research Zoologist at the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology, at the University of California, Berkeley. He has studied the phenomenon of cooperative breeding for over 25 years. He is the coeditor of Cooperative Breeding in Birds: Long-Term Studies of Ecology and Behavior with P. B. Stacey, and author or coauthor of over 150 technical and popular articles on behavioral and population ecology. Here he is in the 80�s and in 2007. LOOKING GOOD, WALT!! Picture 1 Picture 2 Greg Koukl didn't tie the knot until he was 48, but he's making up for lost time. He now has two daughters, a 3 year old and a 7 month old (this is not a typo!). Please pray for him! Picture 1 Picture 2 Greg is an award-winning writer and public speaker, and has been a live radio talk show host in Southern California for 18 years (you can catch the podcast at str.org). He has masters degrees in both theology and philosophy, and is adjunct professor at Biola University grad school. His books include Relativism--Feet Firmly Planted in Mid-Air and Tactics--A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions. Lindy LaBarbera Stedman (and Ron Stedman, York '67) have a very talented son! Matt Stedman just released his first CD entitled "Yankee Irish Stew" which consists of all traditional Irish tunes with a Matt Stedman flavor. Matt has performed at House of Blues, Buddy Guys Legends in Chicago with Bob Margolin (formerly of Muddy Waters Band) and his drummer is Muddy Water's former drummer's son, Kenny Smith. Matt travels all over the United States (and hopefully to Europe soon) with his band. He is very versatile--plays Celtic, blues, jazz, classical on both electric and acoustic violin and also harmonica. He has a duo, trio and full band (depends on the venue).
