For the past few weeks, I really have been feeling the urge to cut the relaxed ends off. I would do it myself, but I don't think I could cut the back. No one in my family is going to help me. Once I realized that I decided to have a consultation with the one natural stylist I found in my area. Wouldn't you know the salon was closed. I won't let this deter me. I will keep transitioning and get a little closer to that year I had in mind.

I had my first hair dreams this weekend. Friday night I dreamed I permed my hair. It wasn't a decision "like I can't take anymore". The dream started out with me rinsing my hair and realizing I had permed all my natural hair that has grown over these months. I kept trying to convince myself that I didn't have to start over. That even though the natural hair was permed it was okay. "Only in my dreams would that be true.�
Saturday night, after styling my hair in the plaits and curls style, I dreamed that I cut the spiral curls off. No trauma in that dream for me. I did have to listen to some "why did you cut your hair" comments.

I think my dreams are calling me to that early "big chop". I won't have a TWA, but with shrinkage it may look that way. I wanted styling options and I could wear two strand twist on my 3.5 to 4 inchef of hair. Maybe the second dream is my solution to cutting the back of my hair. I plait it down to the natural hair. If I cut the curl off, I would probably get a pretty even cut. Maybe not even, but I could get it shaped later if I needed.

June 12, 2003

June 4 marked my 8th month and transitioning and I am ready to cross over. I had a consultation with a natural stylist. Yes! I finally found one in my area. The stylist I found whose salon closed. I decided to try the number to the old shop. A new number listing where I got her new number (she went to a different shop), and finally I got in touch with her.

She did a test coil on my hair and said it should twist nicely. I have an appointment for Tuesday June 17th. My relaxed ends will be cut and I will get comb coils if I don't find a style that I want before then. I am excited. I will take lots of pictures. I hope she doesn't think I'm crazy when I show up with my camera.

The past eight months have been fun. I learned alot about my hair and how to take care of it. I will still be in a transitioning stage. Learning now to deal with a head a natural hair.
