Each chakra has a different sphere of influence on the emotional and physical bodies. As we receive life energy, it nurtures our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. The chakras are also the centers in which mental, emotional, and spiritual forces flow into expression. Our beliefs, thoughts, emotions and attitudes pass through here and are dispensed throughout the mind, body, and spiritual structure. By understanding the chakras, we are able to achieve a heightened awareness of how we affect our own body, minds, and lives. It is believed that when all the chakras are in balance, our mind, our body, and our spirit work as one.
Here is a basic explanation of the seven major chakra centers. Please note that the information given here is by no means the only one for each chakra. This is a very basic explanation.
The Brow Chakra is associated with the color indigo. It is also often referred to as the "third eye" and is located in the center of the forehead. It gives us the ability to look at things in their true light, increasing intuition about people, places and things.
The Throat Chakra is associated with the color sky blue. This chakra is our will center. It gives us the ability for honest and open communication and expression of emotions.
The Heart Chakra is associated with the color green. This chakra is the love center of our human energy system. Learning to love yourself is a powerful first step in securing a healthy fourth chakra. This chakra helps develop our aura to its full potential.
The Solar Plexus Chakra is associated with the color yellow and located at our stomach. This is the area that defines our "self-esteem". This chakra aids in focusing the ego power into the creative process for betterment of self. Strong self-esteem is a required for developing intuitive skills.
The Sacral Chakra is associated with the color orange or red-orange and is located at our lower abdomen. This chakra helps bring to a conscious level emotions that one feels on a primal level. It helps us create better intimacy with others.
The Base or Root Chakra is associated with the color red and is located at the base of the spine. This chakra is the grounding force that allows us to connect to the earth energies and empower our beings. It aids in the mind�s awareness of our connection to nature and awakens our primal instincts.
