| This is the Battlegroup that my Chapter of Space Marines, ‘The Junkyard
Dogs’, use when they have been tasked with a mission.
The Fleet comprises the following: Marine Battle Barge (1): Steptoe
Cruisers:
Escorts;
Captured Ships:
Battlegroup Call sign: Old Iron
The reason for the preponderance of cruisers is to give air support and Fire Support requests from the planet's surface during the initial stages of the assault until sufficient long range artillery is landed on the planet. The cruisers are better able to handle blockade runners due to their size (not as easy to kill as escorts) and speed (they are faster than most things that can kill a cruiser quickly). This Chapter operates near the rim of Imperial influence and it must rely on what it can recover from local forces, be they enemy or allied. This Chapter will use any enemy ships (Except Nurgle) once cleansed of contagion and repaired. Nurgle ships are destroyed and returned to their constituent atoms as quickly as possible to prevent infestation. Things are understood from a scientific point of view rather than a spiritual point of view as they have been out on the rim for so long they have had contact with many different races (including a short statured abhuman race that he Imperium refuses to believe officially exists) and have adopted a more pragmatic view of technology. Their faith in the Emperor has not been comprimised. All captured ships are part of the Scrap Iron Flotilla. This Battlegroup is currently refitting for its next campaign.
