| Vampire Defence cruisers are becoming a more common sight amongst the battlefleets of the Imperium as the acceptance for this relatively new class grows. The Vampire Class was initially a refit of the Lunar class cruiser of the same name after her Lance Batteries were severely damaged during an encounter with Eldar Pirates in the Halberstrum Sub-sector. The fitting of Fragmentaion Missile banks to the ship was the idea of her Captain who was trying to find a way to reduce the efficiency of the Eldar attack craft and though it was an effective tactic Lord Kemlich ordered her back to her original configuration after giving Captain Malkor a commendation. Lord Kemlich sumitted a full report to Kar Duniash after which the Mechanicus began the field tests that led to the first Vampire Class Cruiser (Called the Malkor) going into service 5 years after the report was lodged. |

| Special Rules: Flak missiles
can be used in three ways...
1) They may be deployed directly against ship's in which case they function just like weapons batteries except that they can only damage shields. 2) They maybe fired at Ordinance in which case each point of firepower is considered one dice with each dice hitting on a 5+ 3) They may be used to deploy a number of Blast markers equal to the firepower of the battery within 15 cm of the ship. Designers note: Credit for the idea of Flak launchers goes to Anthony Trudgett, who came up with the idea to explain all the extra guns on the Confessor. |
