A WRITER SIDE OF LIFE
News
APRIL 2011
I am busy revising—i.e., writing the second draft of—my Green Crystal story. All is going well, although slower than I anticipated. Conflict from the real world has been interfering with my writing schedule.Another struggle is what tense to put my story. I began it in first person present tense, but have wanted to change it to third person past tense ever since I picked up the manuscript. This is a lot of work, changing is to was and I, me, my to she and her. Expect me to be at the thick of this when the first day of summer arrives … maybe even autumn … yikes!
Meanwhile, I am trying hard to keep my heroine headstrong despite her losing most of her battles during the story. She must be strong! After all, she needs to rise up and win the final battle at the end!

Corry Writer’s Block—a writing group I belong to—will turn twelve years old this year. The group was founded 1999 in Corry, Pennsylvania by acclaimed writer Beverley Bittner to bring together area writers and offer them workshops and lectures on writing.Beverley published many historical, religious and inspirational stories in her free time. Although she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the group and by the multitude of writing she left behind. She is well known in Corry as the author of the Muskrat Valley novels.
