Jenna in Africa
70 x 89 cm
acrylic on canvas
2005
|
There are some of my paintings that seem to
become inspiring as well as "guiding" toward the historical
moment of the first Afro-American president
in the U.S.
Among them is the one produced in 2005,
Jenna in Africa, about Jenna Bush with an African child on her lap. It
was based on a photo of Jenna Bush' visit to Africa in 2004. Later on after the winning of president-elect Barack Obama
on early November 2008, this painting becomes like speaking the historical
moment of first Afro-American president in the U.S., from Bush to Obama.
If anyone would collect it for 250 grand, it
will be an important support for my last moments in this world. I could
use it to equip myself with some useful gadgets to capture the signs of
God in more complete records, therefore when my time has come to move out
of
this world I hope there would be no more unfinished debt in me in the eyes of
God.
Anyone interested in this offer will be
pleased to contact me.

Tiger Woods Back Up
95 x 134 cm
acrylic on canvas
2004
It was around the year 1994 when I
produced a painting about a
tiger with a traditional Indonesian Minang house at the
background. Then came the news about the success of Tiger Woods in
golf-pro. It must be God's will that those two was related in such a
strange way, and it inspired me to make this painting combining the
tiger painting with Tiger Woods, and signed it on March 2004. A few
months later on July 27, 2004, Barack Obama, then a
senatorial candidate from Illinois, delivered an electrifying speech
to the 2004 Democratic Convention. As the result of the
now-legendary speech, Obama rose to national prominence, and his
speech is regarded as one of the great political statements of the
21st century.

Jenna Bush Sticking Tongue
96 x 144 cm
acrylic on canvas
2004
This painting was inspired by a rare
occasion when president Bush' daughter, Jenna Bush, sticking her
tongue to the press like in the following photo. At that time the
painter was working a painting about a
tiger on the lake. As if she was trying to say to the press:"The
tiger wants to lick me..........."
In this painting, at the right of the
presidential limousine there was a black army officer standing among
other presidential guards. When I worked this painting, it did make me
feel like some kind of future thought, because he was standing in
the part where president Bush would go, as if "after president Bush
there would be a black man to become next U.S. president......."

Oprah's 276 Car Prize
72 x 99 cm
acrylic on canvas
2004
When I was working the historical
painting about
Jenna Bush sticking her tongue inside the presidential limousine,
came the news about Oprah Winfrey presenting 276 car prize to the
audience of her famous talk show. Most of those receiving the car
prize were housewives who have no car. It inspired me to make this
painting that combines Oprah face and the photo of her 276 car prize
with Jenna Bush sticking tongue inside the limousine at the
background.
It was then followed by the rumors that
Oprah was going to run for president, yet later on she declined it,
saying that it was her friends who had the idea, and she then
supported Obama. |
