Mikhail Gorbachev, eighth and final leader of the Soviet Union, closes his resignation speech on the table after delivering it on Soviet television in the Kremlin, Moscow on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1991. Shortly thereafter, the Soviet hammer-and-sickle flag was lowered from the Kremlin, and in its place rose the white, blue, and red flag of Russia. Gorbachev, whose reforms of the Soviet Union paved the way for the Cold War's end and the rise of Boris Yeltsin, on Monday, April 23, 2007 praised the ex-Russian president while also noting their 'massive divergences' over policy.

Monday 23 April 2007, I browsed the Forbes magazine website to search for the top five richest persons in 1999, 2000, 2001. Because there was something interesting back in 2000, whereas after I attended a seminar and product launch of Oracle products in Shangri-La hotel Jakarta, a few days later there was the news about Larry Ellison, the boss of Oracle, turned to be the second richest man in the world. Of course it has nothing to do with whether I was some kind of lucky charm, because it could have been because the stock price of Oracle was up. Or maybe some stock brokers happened to get inspired by my rare visit to Oracle event and causing the buy up of Oracle stocks in the stock market.

In the evening of Monday 23 April 2007 when I was at home again, there was the breaking news on TV about Boris Yeltsin died. He was ruling the Soviet Union and then Russia from 1991 to 1999.

In my previous letter of ‘Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Visiting Japan on April 11, 2007’ I wrote "………………….On the same day of the launching of Windows Vista in Jakarta, April 11, 2007, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe listen to the national anthems during a welcoming ceremony at the prime minister's official residence in Tokyo. The logo of Windows Vista is a circle, just like the circle in Japanese flag. As if he was also attending the launching of Windows Vista in Jakarta…………….."

It was then followed by the news of your visit to China that took place around 19 April 2007, as if your visit was inspired by my previous letter. But of course you must have scheduled it earlier; I only like to write such rather concomitant moment here.
