This fast paced, existential novel was begun fifteen years ago, and sat uncomplete until recently. The poem from the preface of the book "Middle Aged White Boy Rap" has been published in the anthology (WOVEN MAGIC) (International Library of Poetry ISBN#1582355576). The novel which opens in 1989 hurls us back in time. It is set in familiar locals such as Sleepy Hollow, Greenwich Connecticut, Greenwich Village, and Woodstock. It is the tale of two unique individuals, each searching for his own particular truth. One through study and orthodoxy, the other through Nature and Humanism. Fate throws Francis and Gerald together at an interesting time in American History, and they have such a profound effect on each others belief systems, that their identities become somewhat blurred. A suicide attempt in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in 1968 strains their relationship but plays a significant part in the story later on. When at the height of his career Gerald slips, and distraught commits an error of judgement, which ultimately reveals the secret he has carried forward for so long. Drugs, sex, and Rock and Roll intertwine with modern day angst and human triumph.
An entertaining story which can be read on many levels. The Closer's Song by Christopher Cole
