Check the age requirements with the individual day care centre. Babysitters can be found through advertisements on bulletin boards on the campus or in shopping malls and other public areas, or in the classified section of the newspaper. Babysitters may come to your home, or you may take the child to theirs. If the babysitter is working from her own home, she may take in more than one child. Check the situation and see if it is suitable for your needs before making a commitment.
Foundation schools (see above) do appear on LEA lists but in a separate section. It is best to make an appointment to see the headteachers and the schools available. When you know which school you want your child to attend, you should apply directly to the headteacher. If you live in the catchment area and there are places available, your child will be admitted. If your children are not yet 5 but will have their 5th birthday while you are still in Britain you should apply for a place at least a year before their 5th birthday.
