The school was apparently originally built as an Odd Fellows hall and the cornerstone for that building was clearly in veiw when one looked inside the door that led under the front porch. .Bill Sinclair John Hofstetter, the last teacher at old Jenny Lind School John Hofstetter was the last teacher at the old Jenny Lind School in downtown Jenny Lind, where he was born and went to school for grades 1 - 8. Contrary to some reports, he was also the first principal at the new Jenny Lind School, which for a while was on the Valley Springs School campus and is now located as part of an enclave in the Rancho Calaveras subdivision. While still on the VSES campus, Jo McInturf was hired as the principal for the move to the school's new site.

William Alfred Hofstetter was born 15 July 1883 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to a family of seven children. His dedication and obvious talent led him eventually to Drexel Institute where he studied from 1899-1902.
Wide experience of choral music, having sung regularly in 10 choirs (including The Bach Choir and the National Youth Choir of Great Britain) and been conductor of 9, ranging from church or college chapel choirs to auditioned chamber choirs to large choral societies which give concerts with professional orchestras. Singing weekend workshops held regularly with choirs in England and Switzerland. OTHER Teacher at Stevenage Music School, 1988-1989. Private teacher of conducting students, 1994-present. Member of Incorporated Society of Musicians (England) and Schweizerischer Berufs-dirigentenverband (Switzerland).
