In many cases, the actual instrument is also included, and is indicated by an icon that looks like a survey form. Measures with this icon can be downloaded free of charge. In addition to primary data collection instruments, the data base also includes descriptions of how researchers can use administrative data to create small area indicators which are appropriate for community-level research. Many of the descriptions of the administrative data sources were taken from a paper written by Claudia Coulton and Robinson Hollister that appeared in Volume II of New Approaches to Evaluating Comprehensive Community Initiatives. Both the paper and the evaluation volume can be ordered or downloaded from the publications section of the Roundtable website.
AIDS Community Research Initiative of America 230 W. . How You Can Help Mission Statement The AIDS Community Research Initiative of America (ACRIA) (formerly Community Research Initiative on AIDS (CRIA)) is a non-profit community-based AIDS research and treatment education center. Background The AIDS Community Research Initiative of America (formerly Community Research Initiative on AIDS (CRIA)) was incorporated in December 1991 by a group of physicians, activists, and people living with AIDS (PLWAs) who were discouraged by the restraints and red tape debilitating government and academic AIDS research efforts. Under the leadership of the medical community's foremost AIDS practitioners and researchers, the group set out to create an agency that would bring activism to the ever urgent task of studying AIDS-related illness and treatment.
Cities are increasingly key elements within global economic and cultural relations, as they seek to establish corporate identities, compete for tourist trade, and for the location of multinational headquarters and prestigious sporting events. The question of how to understand urban political and economic landscapes and the emerging forms of urban culture is perhaps the most pressing issue for the new Millennium. The focus for the research and teaching being conducted at the Centre for Urban and Community Research, Goldsmiths College aims to meet this challenge. Since 1994 CUCR has emerged as a national and international leader in theoretically informed and socially relevant research on urban and community life. Our aspiration is to combine a commitment to social theory with sensitive and rigorous empirical research and to address both popular, academic and policy and political audiences.
