The IRTF Research Groups guidelines and procedures are described more fully in RFC 2014 (BCP 8). . IRTF Home Page IRTF Mission To promote research of importance to the evolution of the future Internet by creating focused, long-term and small Research Groups working on topics related to Internet protocols, applications, architecture and technology. IRTF Research Groups The Internet Research Task Force is a composed of a number of small Research Groups. Research Groups are usually focussed and long term, though short lived "task force" like Research Groups are possible.

Computer Architecture Research Laboratory Computer Architecture Research Laboratory Computer Science Department, UC Davis The Computer Architecture Laboratory serves as a focal point for research into various aspects of computer design and performance. The laboratory is a founding member of the Quantum Architecture Research Center. This has been supplemented in the last two years by the School's involvement in the Clients and Users in Design Education Project funded by HEFCE. . Research activities within the School have developed around five themes based on the staff shared interest and specialist knowledge. As a result specialist clusters and research groups have been developing during the past five years thus increasing the teaching and research capacity of the School. There are also two active research groups and a consultancy unit.
