The North Carolina rider was 19th-quickest in Saturday qualifying; three notches out of Sunday's 16-bike field. A record field of 265 race teams teched-in at the facility, including 29 Top Fuel bikes, 10 Pro Fuel riders, 17 Pro Dragster riders and 11 Pro Gas teams. . Darren Maulding was the fastest Sportster in the Amateur Division with an ET of 7. In the Amateur Big Twin class John Kownacki riding a 106 c. Dyna Convertible turned the lowest ET for the class of 7. The fastest time in the Big Twin Pro class would also be set in the first round by Randy Snyder on his Illusion Team bike with an ET of 7.
Forget wooden shoes and windmills --Holland is now known for drag racing. Kris Becker and husband Arlie prepare for her Top Fuel run. Defending Pro Fuel riding champ Mike Bahnmaier prepares for launch. Stan Verheijen of Heerlen, Holland, turned the day's first 200-mph run, in his first pass of the day. He then backed it up with another 200-plus run on his second pass.
