Plot Summary When Harry and Sally first meet they have just graduated from the University of Chicago, and both are moving to New York. The drive there is a nightmare for each, and early on it is clear that they hate each other. The second time Harry and Sally meet is on a plane when they were both seated next to each other. That isn't a pleasant experience either, for each remembers the other from the hellish trip from Chicago to New York. However the third time Harry and Sally meet things are different. Ten years have passed since they first met, the are both going through painful breakups, and each are willing to go out for a cup of coffee. Finally a close friendship blooms between them, and they both like having a friend of the opposite sex. But then they are confronted with the problem: "Can a man and a woman be friends, without sex getting in the way?"
