Name: Quentin Jerome Tarantino
Birthday: 27 March 1963
Birthplace: Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
His mother, whom was 16 named him after Quint, played by Burt Reynolds, from
the television series Gunsmoke. Tarantino grew up in La. He loved television,
going to the cinema and reading comic books. A very hyper active child, but
very intelligent. He hated school and decided to quit it after grade 10. He
began working in a porn cinema called The Pussycat Theatre.
On July 30, 1997. Tarantino and Lawrence Bender founded a record company titled
A Band Apart Records. Which is mainly for his films soundtracks.
Tarantino nearly directed an episode of the X-Files but was told he had to
sign the Director's Guild of America and refused.
After Tarantino's rival director Guy Ritchie married Madonna, he was quoted
on saying "I guess I'll have to marry Elvis Presley to get even."
Tarantino being a symbol of young directors towards popular films is hailed by this generation as "the videostore generation of filmmakers". Tarantino dropped out of high school and worked at a Video Store called Video Archives which possibly got him where he is now. Tarantino than met Roger Avary. Tarantino being so opinionative and passionate towards movies was hired by producer John Langley, along with Avary. Thier first job was technical assistants for a Dolph Lundgren exercise video. This brought them to employment at Cinetel Productions. Whereas they met producer Lawrence Bender and started Reservoir Dogs. Dogs was supposed to be budgeted at a mere 35,000. By the time Harvey Keitel became enamored in the script and agreed to play the star. The result an amazing crime/drama with dominant themes of masculinity, loyalty and betrayal. On January 1991, Reservoir Dogs hit the Sundance Film Festival. Although the film was snubbed by critics. Many of the industry considered Tarantino the next Martin Scorsese.
Next came Tarantino's script True Romance. A pop culture love story which was masterfully directed by Tony Scott. With an all-star cast that delivered extraordinary performances. Then came the Oliver Stone directed Natural Born Killers. Although written by Tarantino, Stone exstenively changed the screenplay with credit towards Tarantino. Stone took the burden of contraversy that followed the films release.
3 Years later released Pulp Fiction. Which was first shown at the Cannes Film Festival. It stunned audiences and critics. Here it won 'Palme D'Or' which is the American equivalent to 'Best Picture'. Pulp Fiction also won 'Best Director' and 'Best Original Screenplay'. Later in 1995. Tarantnio directed a segment title "The Man From Hollywood" alongside with other directors such as Alexandre Rockwell, Robert Rodriguez, and Allison Anders. It was under appreciated. Nextly came From Dusk Till Dawn in 1996. Which he wrote and co-starred alongside with George Clooney.
Tarantino being a geniune actor. Stunned critics by his postmodern 'cool'. Retro clothing and his hipster tone of his protaginists. Tarantino has already became a "film geek who made god". An inspiration to young directors all over.
