One of the greatest movies of all time, 2001: A Space Odyssey is a brilliant story about the evolution of man. The directing is flawless, as in most of Kubrick's works, and the special effects are to this day the most realistic of any space movie I have seen. The apes in the beginning are still difficult to perceive as being anything other than apes although they are actually people in costumes. The finishing sequence remains as one of my favorite all time movie sequences. This film is truly a masterpiece to this very day.
