Founding franchise. Team has kept the same name every year with only one variation - in 1997, the team was dubbed "Missiles de la Mañana" to reflect owner John Hach's studies in Spain. The Missiles' 1999 campaign was legendary - only a Week 6 loss to the Decatur Bears thwarted a perfect regular season. Became the first franchise to switch cheerleaders midseason. Drafted Kansas City running back Larry Johnson with the 90th overall selection in 2005, and won the Toilet Bowl that year, allowing them to start the 2006 season with both Johnson and LaDainian Tomlinson - a tandem dubbed "The Greatest Backfield of All-Time."™
