New |
An avid sports
fan, I enjoy the thrill of intense competition and action. My
favorite spectator sports include football, basketball, baseball,
and hockey. I also enjoy watching Summer and Winter Olympic sports
such as Track & Field, Swimming & Diving, Gymnastics, and
Figure Skating.

| San Francisco Giants - MLB
National League |
Giants win the
2000 National League West.
With the 2000
season over having lost to the New York Mets in the first round of
the NL playoffs, 2001 promises to be as exciting as 2000. In their
second year in PacBell Park, Barry, J.T., Robb, Jeff, Shawn, and
Dusty return. GO GIANTS!!! When the Giants come to town...Bye, Bye,
Baby...
I was never a great big fan of baseball until
1988, before the the Giants made it to the World Series in 1989. I
had always thought that watching baseball was boring and that I
would have rather liked playing rather than watching. In 1988, I
began watching baseball games because there wasn't anything else to
watch on TV. I also remember watching the 1989 World Series ("Battle
of the Bay") between the Oakland A's and the SF Giants. The new
baseball park is fast becoming the gem of San Francisco and one of
the most beautiful in the country. My favorite players are Barry
Bonds, Robb Nen, J.T. Snow, and Jeff Kent.

| Oakland Athletics - MLB
American League |
A's win the 2000
American League West. Runners up in the ALCS to New York
Yankees.
Not a mistake. I grew to like the A's as I
watched Interleague games between them and the Giants. For such a
young team, they have a lot of talent. In just a few years, they
will be contenders in the American League. The A's almost won the
ALCS and a trip to the World Series but the Yankees were had too
much talent (by virtue of Steinbrenner's millions). My favorite
players are Tim Hudson, Barry Zito, and Ryan Christenson.
Unfortunately, my all-time favorite Ben Grieve has been traded to
the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. And without a new contract, manager Art
Howe and 2000 AL MVP Jason Giambi are looking to prove that they
belong in Oakland. All my luck to the A's with their new acquisition
Johnny Damon.

| San Francisco 49ers - NFL |
I first became a
49er fan at the age of 11 when the 49ers won their first SuperBowl.
Since then, I've been a loyal SF 49er fan. In December 1995, I
watched my first live 49er game at 3Com Park (Candlestick) as the
49ers faced the Bills. Although they're in the midst of re-building I
remain loyal to the 49ers. My favorite players that have worn the
red and gold are Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Merton Hanks, Ronnie Lott,
and Roger Craig.

| Los
Angeles Lakers - NBA |
I've also been a
Lakers fan since 1981. I loved the team of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and
Magic Johnson. Even through their bad seasons in the early 90s, I've
remained a loyal Lakers fan. When Magic returned to play with the
Lakers I was sure that the Lakers had a chance to make it to the NBA
championships. With Shaq and Kobe the Lakers will be a force to
reckon with in the NBA for years to come.

| RIT Tigers - College
Hockey |
With an overall
record of 27-1-1 (NCAA 26-0-1), the Tigers are #1 in USCHO Men's Div
III poll and host the NCAA Semi-Finals at Ritter Arena.
-March 12, 2001
I was first
introduced to hockey during my second year at RIT. That year, I had
watched 4 RIT hockey games and a Rochester Amerks game. I became
intrigued by the speed and skill it takes to play hockey. The
competition between rival colleges also made the games intense. It
was a greater thrill to watch the Tigers this year because RIT made
it to the NCAA Division III Championship at River Falls, WI.
Although the team lost to Middlebury in the Championship Game, I was
extremely proud that our team had advanced so far. Some key players
of the season included: Chris Maybury, Adam French, Randy Chenowski,
Steve Toll, and Jamie Morris.
