Welcome to Scots on the Wab. The aim of the site is to act as an introduction and short guide to the Scots Language. More and more books are being published in but there has been a longstanding lack of basic learning materials. Scots is very easy to learn (for an English speaker) and I hope the site will give a bit of help to begin using Scots yourselves.

I've tried to stay well within modern developments in Scots and have used material adapted from a number of books. This (Aug 1996) version sticks (as far as possible) to the spellings of the 1996 Scots School Dictionary published by Chambers. If you (a) find the site useful, (b) think I'm off-beam in parts (c) have suggestions to improve it (d) or whatever, let me know at [email protected]. With your help we can make Scots on the Wab much better!
