Dieting is a load of Metabolics

I watched a primetime programme called 'Fat' on ITV that I wished I'd taped. It basically made the point that our weight is genetically determined and that people who by orthodox definitions are overweight, but who exercise sensibly will be healthier than a person who is the 'correct' weight who doesn't exercise. These 'overweight' people are less likely to get heart attacks etc than the more correct 'weight' people who are unfit. So the important factor that emerges is -  Fitness.
Now we are all weary of new medical claims that seem to contradict what they only said just the other week. However this doesn't seem to need much medical knowledge to see the fundamental sense in this, because::-
                            A) We all obviously come in genetically different shapes and sizes. So why should there be such a narrow definition of the ideal weight?
and B) Exercise is good for our bodies.
In fact it seems to make such perfect common sense, the wonder is;Why hasn't this been the recieved medical wisdom?
The heart of the problem seems to lie in the Fairy Tales of our childhood in which physical bodily perfection is equated with ideal personality traits and the opposite is equated with the worst personality traits. It's such a fundamenal thing, and we feel that it should be right that we can't help associate attractive people and things with 'goodness' and we can do this in the face of all contrary evidence that no such link is evident and that even more often the opposite is frequently true. This may be seen as deluded but harmless, but the real downside comes with how people treat unattractive or 'overweight' people. Society finds it hard to justify being openly abusive to ugly people, but it is more socially acceptable to do so to fat people.Because we have the justification that they must be lazy and greedy..
Although this blinkered view is strange, it is at least understandable. What isn't so easy to accept is that Science has gone along with one of the most basic prejudices of society, making no effort to shoot it down in flames, but in fact actively supporting it. For me the only explanation for this is that's it's mass Collusion, i.e
If a lot of people want something to be true then some 'official' organisation will feed them back what they want to hear. This is a phenomenon that I will constantly be drawing attention to throughout these essays. Now in this case, the collusion may just stem from the fact that doctors are just people with the same prejudices as well, but the whole medical establishment can't be riddled with this prejudice. So I believe it's more than that, I think it's a deliberate promotion of a distorted version of the Darwinian credo 'Survival of the Fittest',and the inference for society is:-The 'Fit' ones are carrying the 'unfit' ones with them. This keeps both parties happy, a fundamental science tenet is kept alive in the public's mind and a prejudice is given an 'official' stamp of approval.
You might find this hard to believe that 'Science' could be involved in such a deception.but before I discovered the idea of collusion being embedded in society's infrastructure I had come to the conclusion that most of the attittudes towards dieting, weight and fitness didn't make much sense. Because I have always been thin, despite eating whatever I liked and also for many years of my life having not done a stroke of exercise.
So c'mon shout at me "
Hey you THIN BASTARD! Stop eating! Get off your Arse and do some exercise!"
