Mundane conspiracies

My limited interest in 'Conspiracy theories' started when I saw the film JFK. I found the film convincing with the overwhelming amount of information it presented, but since I knew absolutely nothing about it,I was uncertain about the validity of the information presented. However my socio-political view of society, which sees society in terms of power structures.made it very easy to accept that JFK could have been assassinated and the ability to conceal it was feasible.
Since then programmes like The X Files have brought the idea of Conspiracies into the open. But my perception,is that the people who have come to believe in them, see them as completely disconnected from ordinary life, being the product mainly of secretive organisations, men in black, corrupt governments and a lot to do with Aliens etc.But I see these huge conspiracies (Which I personally believe do exist) as the top of a sliding scale which reaches down right through society. And these I have called 'mundane conspiracies' i.e. the kind not involving Assassinations etc.
The social meaning of the word 'conspiracy' has 'theorist' now welded on to it,which implies a rather fanatical flavour and a certain set of beliefs. But for me the defintion of conspiracy is that it's an abuse of power as a social activity that hasn't been discovered yet.Once it's been discovered it's plain old abuse of power and is then defined as a rip off or a scam etc.And if we are powerless to do anything to do about it,it's then exploitation. The fact that more mundane conspiracies are being revealed of late begs the question how many more of them are waiting to be discovered? Well how many you percieve now is down to your own knowledge and interest in this subject. But my experience and research have led me to conclude that they are so rife, that we are just objects to be exploited and controlled and it has always been that way.It is the air that organised and civilised societies breathe and you could almost define the level of 'civilisation' of a society by the ability of it's key organisational structures to hide and control it's conspiracies and the ability to decieve it's population that it is doing so.
If you think this is a rather bleak view, there is a strangely positive side to it.In that.because mundane conspiracies are so interwoven into the fabric of business and official structures (which of course do fulfill their functions) that in practical terms,it's hard to take a moral stance upon them.Society has evolved with them squarely in the centre of it.So you have a more complex view in that they are actually necessary for the development of all societies.
On the whole I realise this is still a rather depressing view of society, however I am fundamentally an idealist and although I believe that a utopian version of society is unrealistic I believe it is the desire for a better one that is important. In the last decade or so the amount of these mundane conspiraies uncovered seems to be increasing, which I feel is a good thing, however, how society can function if more and more of it's infrastructure is revealed to be 'corrupt' is another matter, because ordinary people will tend to see this as a decline in standards, rather than an improvement.
