Thanks to all the guys who played on this record at my house in Norman or my little demo studio on Classen in OKC. We pretty much had a one take policy. None of the songs were more than eight tracks and some were as few as six. Kevin mixed and mastered at our little demo studio on the row in Nashy. It was just for fun mostly. That’s probably why we ended up liking it. We hope you do too.

Special Thanks to Bob Moore, a true artist who somehow made it seem not that ludicrous to do this for a living; Kim at Bug Music who told me I had to do something with this; Kevin & Jimiller for getting it online; Larry & Bobby for helping finish this up.

Extra Special Thanks to the (formerly) Undercover Executives: Mark Leu, Richard Wall, Kris (www.kristinchenoweth.com), Darren Graves, Ski, Chad, Tosh, Berg, Wes, Cheri, Shayne, Ginger & Jim Strickland, and bad Ben once again.

This Record Is Dedicated to my Grandad

Moss Witt, a bass playin’ sumbitch.

I think you would have liked it.

I wish you were still here…

MADCOWBOYS LYRICS

A.D.D . - C.M.Strickland
Everybody's turnin' up A.D.D. /I Wish they'd hafta spend an hour with me. / Sit right down and tell 'em what I see. / Just an Oklahoma boy's philosophy. / While you initialize the conversation / I drift off to another station / Would you say I turned up A.D.D.? / A.D.D., A.D.D. everybody oughta hafta spend an hour with me / When my mind goes flyin' free / I say it's just my personality. / I was around when sex was wrong. / It wasn't nothing but a game o' pong / hooked right up to a black and white TV. / And if you didn't pay attention / I never heard a single mention / that they thought you turned up A.D.D.

Badness of Bulls - C.M.Strickland
I can't worry no more / about gettin' no j.o.b. / 'cause I can make me a little bit o' money / and the rest I can get for free / I know it ain't nothin' special / and to you it may sound dull / but I got me a job estimating / the badness of bulls. / Don' t ever underestimate / the badness of bulls / and you better be sure they're dead / before you go paintin' / on their skulls / on their skulls / on their skulls. / Coupla things you need to know / about the badness of bulls / they aint gonna push ya if you don't try and pull / Take 'em on down to Texas / stick 'em all in a pen / drive back to Oklahoma / load 'em up and do it again. / I got money for the jukebox / and I can tip the band / and I got something to say / to all you granola heads / You can hug all them trees you want / but don't let me catch you down at my pen / I walk right through your picket line / load 'em up and do it again.

Stressin' - C.M.Strickland
I ain't got no more bones to pick with you / and I'm not the type' to call you names / but I'll think me a few. / I've been up all night with a personal plight / lookin' like I sniffed some glue / Leave me alone, I got some stressin' to do. / I told you not to call me here no more / especially late, it's a family trait / to walk this killing floor. / I got my own fling singin' my ding-a-ling / now I think you're screwed / so leave me alone I got some stressin' to do. / I got some stressin' to do. / Yes, it's true / I washed it right back with some humble brew. / All night long, I thought about this song / I ain't slept 'cause I know you're wrong. / You may not approve of the way I live. / But I ain't got nothing left that this old heart can give. / Well, maybe I never do, but at least you're through / with the lies I told about havin' a few. / So just Leave me alone, I got some stressin' to do.

Gettin' Drunk - C.M.Strickland
Tired o' writin' songs all day long / pretendin' like I don't care / about nothing at all 'til the final call. / You're lookin' at me with that glare. / It's not easy to write and stay up all night, / but they just seem to come to me; / and it really doesn't matter why I keep getting madder, / 'cause no one will keep me company. / And nobody cares about your pictures, anyway. / I said D.D.'n' D.D.D., I'm gettin' drunk today. / I don't wanna do what I oughta, 'n' call that record man. / He'll be lyin' in his bedroom or down at the headroom, dodgin' me anyway he can. / I'm in good shape for the shape I'm in. / Livin' in the Bible belt, everything's a sin.

Ice Cream Man - Bob Spacedog MooreHey Baby I'm your ice cream man. / Hey Baby I'm your ice cream man. / Hey Baby I'm your ice cream man. / I'm doin' the very, very, very, very best I can. / I got your dream-cicle, cherry, 4th of July / I got your pop-cicle every night. / Nutty buddy is my favorite dream, / especially when it's covered with whippin' cream. / Hey Baby I'm your ice cream man. / I'm doin' the very, very, very, very best I can. / Some afternoons, babe, it's a hundred-and-three. / Everybody's workin' like a dog, everybody but me. / You see in my occupation, you can't be no fool. / The ice cream man's just gotta keep cool. / Hey Baby I'm your ice cream man. / I'm doin' the very, very, very, very best I can. / The absolutely, positively best I can.

Low Down - C.M.Strickland
We're just low down throw down. / Pour that whiskey slowly now. / And even if you got no respect for us, / you're wastin' your breath if you're makin' a fuss. / Take one good look and you'll agree. / Some things in this world are free. / Take a good look / and whaddaya see / everything in life ain't so easy for me / but I got a three room house and a big shade tree, / drinkin them Buds. I get em all for free. /All my friends, they live right by. / They all come over. We get high as a kite. / Well, we smoke all day, and we drink all night. / We thought about peace, but we're ready to fight. / Everyday I sing this song / and all my friends, yeah they sing along. / Well, we're livin' and we're breathin' 'til the day that we die. / Sometimes we tell the truth and sometimes we lie.

Mr. Eucalyptus Tree - C.S.Strickland
Mr. Eucalyptus tree / sing a little song for me. / Be my friend 'til the bitter end, / until eternity. / I got a
Cleveland County hog leg / and smoked all up for me. / Talkin' to my good friend Mr. Eucalyptus tree. / We all havin' a party / and you know I'll be right there. / Sing me a song about gettin' along / in my old nappy hair. / When I come up missin' / well, you know where to look for me... / talkin' to my good friend, Mr. Eucalyptus tree. / I got a meager ounce of wisdom / for every pound of brains / and my prestigious colleagues, / well, they're just exactly the same / so when we got a problem, you may view this skeptically. / We talk to our good friend Mr. Eucalyptus tree.

Viper - Leroy Stuff Smith
Well, think about a reefer five feet long, / a little bit hot and not too strong. / You'll be high but not for long, / if you're a viper. / Well, I'm the king of everything. / I gotta be high before I can sing. / Light that reefer. Let me be, / if you're a viper. / When your throat gets dry, you know you're high. / Everything's dandy. / Truck on down to the candy store. / Blow your mind on peppermint candy. / Now you know your body's spent. / You don't give a damn if you don't pay rent. / Light that refer. Just get bent, / if you're a viper.

Basin Street Blues - Spencer Williams
Won't you come along with me / to the
Mississippi. / We'll take a boat to the land of dreams, / steamin' down the river down to New Orleans. / The band's there to meet us. / Old friends to greet us / where all of the dark and the light folks meet. / Heaven on earth, they call it Basin Street. / Basin Street is the street / where all the elite always meet. / New Orleans, land of dreams. / You'll never know how nice it seems or just how much it really means. / Glad to be, yessiree, / where welcome's free and I can see / I can lose my Basin Street blues.

Magic Cup - C.M.Strickland
Every chick I know / wants to know why I love you so and I tell them / I don't know. / Every chick I see / wants to know why you're so mean, / so mean to me. / Every time I go / down to the candy store / I can see where you've been / with your tonic and gin. / and I know what's up. / You've got your magic cup. / So much better than me. / Magic cup, I wanna fill you up. / Magic cup, so much better than me.

Sunny Side of the Street - Jimmy McHugh, Dorothy Fields
Grab your coat and get your hat. / Leave your worries at the doorstep. / Just direct your feet / to the sunny side of the street. / Can't you hear a pitter-pat and that happy tune is your step. / Just direct your feet to the sunny side of the street. / I used to walk in the shade / with them blues on parade / but I'm not afraid. / This rover crossed over. / If I never have a cent, / I'll be rich as Rockefeller. / Gold dust at my feet / on the sunny side of the street.
