| Living and working in Korea has offered me many insights. Along the way I have had the good fortune to meet some wonderful people. I worked alongside Lee Eun-ju and she was a lovely person with a quiet, unassuming disposition. I was deeply moved when she commited suicide. We appeared on the TV drama 'Pul-seh' together and I noticed Eun-ju had a tendency towards depression. I shall miss her terribly. |

| @@@@@ REFLECTIONS @@@@@ It has come to my attention that living in Seoul is like anywhere else. It is what you make of it. It can be a devastating experience for those who come here and not allow themselves to absorb some of the culture. ************************************ I have opened myself up to the Korean way of life. It has been a challenge at the best of times. There are cultural difference that never cease to amaze me. But this is no reason to allow prejudice or judgementalism get in the way of a fulfilling lifetimne experience. Whenever I am confronted with an adverse situation, this is not the time to point the finger at Korea. My home country also suffers from corruption, ignorance, rudeness and stubborn attitudes. These qualities are to be found almost anywhere at some stage. There also happens to be a great deal more crime in the neighborhood where I come from, so living in Korea is a balancing act; taking the good with the bad, just like everywhere else. |
