A non-geek's look at cool tech's and gadgets.

Getting a new computer in a few days. It's not super fast but then again, I don't need super fast. More later.

Well, I have had experience with both XM and Sirius and let me say, XM clears the board except for lack of public radio (NPR,PRI) programs. XM's playlist's are so much better and less repetitive. Some of Sirius' stations are like commercial-less FM stations. Plus, XM is the home of the future of talk radio. That's right, Opie and Anthony. More coming soon as I am planning a O&A page with XM praise.

My weapon of choice is the Delphi XM MyFi. No use of explaining it since that page does but here is my take with expanding thoughts on the typical review. After reading that buy it at Ebay or at Ziggy's XM Radio Store. The Dell Dimension 8200 is my parents comp now. I got a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop. I also got a old PC for the tiny FM transmitter and as a backup computer. It's a Dell Dimension 4100 from the year 2000 with a new 80 gig harddrive and wireless network card.

I found the greatest place to download music a few years ago. The program is Soulseek. Get it here.. It's also so mostly reliable and fast! FULL ALBUMS are easy to find too. Great if you want to hear the latest (or oldest) albums and don't want to invest in CD's because if it sucks, then you didn't waste 12 dollars and perfect full albums are a rarity! Limewire is great for individual tracks, it's fast, deep. Google Limewire for download.

I got a iRiver iHP-140. It's a 40 gig MP3 player that has FM (unlike iPod), looks cool (unlike iPod), and it's easy to use. No iTunes or other program bullshit. It uses Windows Explorer (a normal window) to load files. Read more about it here and forget Apple and the iPod ever existed.

OLD: 99 minute CD-Rs are very hard to find but can be worthy. They work on SOME (mostly newer) CD Players. You won't find them in Best Buy or Circuit City. Do a Google search on them and you'll find shops (mostly European).
