| December 22, 2001 is a day I will remember for the rest of my life. It is the day that Kara and I confirmed what we had known for a long time...that we would spend the rest of our lives with each other. That Saturday evening I did everything I knew to do to show Kara that I truly loved her...and that she was my princess...I wanted to make our engagement something she would remember forever! So, I sent a limo to pick her up at her house. She did not know that it was coming. We she got into the limo she found a rose and note...but not me! I thought if I was not in the limo it would keep her guessing, I think it worked! I was waiting at the Holland Park, by the windmill, it is only 2 miles away from her house. When the limo pulled up, I walked out from behind the windmill and opened Kara's door and told her she needed to come with me...I also told the driver that she could just pull the limo ahead up and park. Kara and I walked hand in hand to a little woods, actually it was just a few trees behind the windmill, not like "wild animal" woods. When we away from the road, a got down on my knee and pulled the ring from my suit pocket...I'm not really sure exactly what I said...all I remember is she said yes, then she gave me a big hug and a kiss! WHAT A RELIEF!!! Since it was about 10 degrees (that may or may not be an exageration) I told Kara we could celebrate in the limo. I had rented the limo for 3 hours...and we really didn't have any particular place to go, so the driver just drove us around, we only had one request and that was that the driver take us through a McDonald's drive-through...we just ordered french fries! I had made reservations at the Edgewater Grille in Newburgh for dinner. I had planned on taking her to New Harmony after dinner for a carriage ride, but those plans were rained out. That evening was wonderful...it was something I had llooked forward to my entire life and now I have my entire life to look forward to. |
