The scene opens to Simon Terry's private office of his hometown apartment in Memphis, Tennessee. Simon is seen sitting behind a desk in a large leather presidential chair. Across from him is freelance reporter and former ML commentator Arliss Taylor. Simon has just returned home from the last week of being in St. Lois. It's his first trip back since before he faught Mikey for the first time.
Arliss: It's good to see you again, Simon.
Simon: Same to you Arliss. It's always nice to be back home and see some of the ole faces. I really miss this place, and I'm proud to be back in Memphis.
Arliss: Well, Simon, this video footage is going to be aired for NEW purposes, but it's also going to be sent to the Memphis Wrestling Classic Show. It will be shown on one of their Saturday morning shows within the next couple of weeks and comments will be given by Jimmy Hart and his team. So, I'll be asking alot of questions, not only with NEW and the oWo, but with you personal life and your past also.
Simon: Yeah, I'm kind of anxious to see what the "mouth of the south" has to say about the new wave of wrestling superstars to come out of Memphis.
Arliss: Well then, let's start there. When you were growing up as a child, who did you like to see in the ring, and who was your idol.
Simon: Mid-South Wrestling was always great. I remember sitting in my living room every Saturday at eleven o'clock. Me, my older brother Cole, and two of my cousins couldn't wait to see what was going to happen. The Jerry Lawler-Bill Dundee feuds were some of the best ever in wrestling. Then there was Austin Idol, J.T. Southern, Buddy Landell, the list of greats to wrestle in this town goes on an on. Alot of people don't realize how many big name stars got there start in Mid-South wrestling. Like I said Lawler has always been a huge star in Memphis. Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Randy Savage, The Nightmares, The Rock n' Roll Express, The Fantastics. Jeff Jarrett started at age eighteen, his dad Jerry was the promoter. I can go on all day about stories of people who's travelled through here, but if I had to pick and idol, I'd have to say Ric Flair. He was "the dirtiest player in the game".
Arliss: Okay, Simon, it's been a while since there was alot of mention of Major League Wrestling from you. What's going on with your ML past and the future of that company.
Simon: I'll never forget all the stuff that went on for me at ML. Major League Wrestling made me who I am today. But right now, I'm NEW and oWo, and I'm focusing on being the best wrestler that I can be for them. Shawn, Cissy, and I had alot of fun back in those days, but it's all in the past.
Arliss: Speaking of Shawn, meaning Shawn Stryker, alot of people say that he's the biggest reason that you've made it as far as you have in NEW.
Simon: I can't argue with that completely. Shawn has helped me alot to get where I am now. He's worked backstage to set up matches for me, and he's turned alot of heads in my direction. But Shawn wouldn't have done that if he hadn't seen something in SST. He knows that I've paid my dues and earned everthing that I have right now.
Arliss: So he's helped you recieve a push?
Simon: Push is a strong word. I've noticed since winning the Cruiserweight Championship and becoming a part of the oWo, alot of people have been going on about my "push", especially En Fuego and Mikey. Sure, my winning the cruiserweight title may not have been tooth and nail. I may be gaining more respect than others who may or may not be better than me. I haven't turned down a challenge though. I gave Mikey not only one fair shot at my belt, but two. I'm not going to back down from anyone that wants time in the ring with me.
Arliss: Do you feel like you are going to get even more "pushes" from some of the top guys in this business?
Simon: Yes.
Arliss: (puzzled looking)Care to elaborate on that?
Simon: I plan on recieving a huge push on Monday at Firefights, from the biggest of the top guys in this business.
Arliss: President AJ?
Simon: No, the fans. The fans this week at the Pyramid are going to explode when "State of Mind" begins playing. They are going to be behind Simon Terry 100%. I plan on giving them a show Monday against El Matidor. They deserve it. I'm going to give them the newest "home town hero" this Monday.
Arliss: Are you looking forward to that match?
Simon: I look forward to every match, Arliss. Especially against a luchadore. I trained and worked hard in Tijuana for almost five years with some of the best luchadores in the world. I've got alot of respect for Matidor and his style. I respect all the highflyers, not only in NEW, but all of wrestling. Any chance I get to watch triple A, I'm there. People like Rey Mysterio Jr. and Matidor are just paving the way for more even tougher lucha-libre guys to come to America and show off their talents.
Arliss: I'm going to go into one more thing before we wrap this up, what about tag teaming? We know that Simon Terry has been netorious as a tag team wrestler, do you see any future plans as forming another tag team?
Simon: I love it. It's wrestling with a break in it. Tag Teams were my specialty throughout most of ML and all of my UWF days. Even in Hawaii as Rhemses Trekker, I teamed with the "Wolf". I haven't thrown out tag team wrestling all together, I'm just really content where I'm at right now. There's alot of superstars in NEW that would make awesome tag team partners. When the time comes, I'll probably be more focused on that field again.
Arliss: Well thank you Simon once again for doing this interview.
Simon: I've enjoyed it. It lets the people see me as a person and not just a wrestler. They get to see the fan side of SST. And don't let Jimmy Hart be too hard on me.
Arliss: I'm sure he'll have nothing but good things to say.
