Pontiac is a large city with city problems, but
it is better than some other offered areas if
you have kids. There are great county and state
parks with trails- wonderful for kids.
Housing in Pontiac and surrounding areas is VERY
reasonable. (Expect to pay around $600 for a 1
bedroom, $800 for a 2 bedroom). There are apartments
as far as the eye can see. The suburbs are beautiful
and the area is an inexpensive and pretty area
in general.
Detroit is about a one hour drive away.
