UK Clinical Sites Information > North of London, UK
 General Info

The UK experience can be a wonderful opportunity for both students and SO's. Hospital training can be superb, and cultural experiences are a great way to expand your horizons. Although it is not recommended spending the majority of your time in England (due to difficulty obtaining a competitive residency) it can be a great experience. You may also be able to save a lot of money because housing and transportation can be very inexpensive (at least outside London). This allows even tight budgets to do some travelling on the main continent!

If you think you have any interest in going to the UK at any point in your clinical years, go to DES in St. Vincent for details and surveys about each hospital- these give a "real life picture" of the area and what to expect.

 Entertainment
If you are looking for night life, museums, or cultural events, choose a hospital located in a large city. Many smaller towns are isloated and offer very little official entertainment. However, if you are seeking the outdoors and countryside activities, small towns and those near national parks are perfect. They do offer a lot of walking and hiking opportunities as well. There are a few hospitals that come close to offering both. These are located just outside of very large cities, but close to the countryside.
