1988- Teru and Takuro start Glay off. They played low key shows well in highschool in their hometown of Hakkodate. 1990- Once Hisashi graduates from highschool he joins the other two. They all go to Tokyo and play for bigger crowds. 1991- 3 self-made tapes are put out by the boys and sell quickly. Jiro, who helped out back in 1988, officially joins the group and finalizes the deal. 1993- Glay preforms a live show and gets a record deal the very same day by Extasy records. - they start recording their first album 1994 02.01- Glay preforms their first show at Meguro Rokumeikan. The show is sold out. Unknown date- They record 'Rain' in L.A. under the guidence of Yoshiki at One On One Recording Studios Inknown date- They start recording their first major album 09.26- Glay's first nationwide tour consisting of 13 shows starts. The tour is called "Hai to Diamond Tour" and brought about 4000 fans to all the shows in total. 11.24- They preform 3 shows under the "Speed Pop Live '94" tour. 1995 01.25- Their fourth single enters the Oricon Chart at no. 19. 03.01- Speed Pop (their first CD) comes out to purchase. It reached no. 8 on the Oricon Charts. 04.22- The next tour which brings in about 8000 fans to the 10 shows nationwide starts. The tour is named "Speed Pop Gig '95". 07.11- They start recording their second album with Toshi Nagai on drums and D.I.E. on piano. 01.29- 8th single reachs no.4 on the Oricon Chart. 02.07- BEAT out! hits shelves 02.19- The CD reachs no.1 on the Oricon Chart. The first no. 1 for the guys. 02.29- "BEAT out! '96" tour starts with 9 shows in total. 05.13- The second video clip "Video Glay 2" hits no. 1 on the Oricon Chart. 06.20- "Eien no 1/4- Glay Story" goes on sale. This is their first book. 08.16- "BEAT out! Reprise" tour begins with 11 shows. 50,000 fans in total show up to the two BEAT out! tours. 08.19- Beloved single reachs no. 3 on the Oricon Chart. 09.09- "Mignight Sun" goes on sale (a collection of photographs of the guys in Iceland). 12.02- The third CD, 'Beloved', reachs no.1 on the Oricon Chart and breaks the million barrier. 12.06- The 'Beloved' single wins 29th All-Japan Yusen Hoso Gold Request Award. 12.08- "Glay Tour '96/'97 Beloved You" begins playing 33 shows nationwide with 10,000 fans showing up to see them. 1997 02.01- "Beloved You Encore" Tour plays one week worth of shows (7 shows) nationwide. 03.19- "Mugan No dejavu Document of 'BEAT out!' Tours-Private Version" goes on sale with only 30,000 copies. 05.26- "Kuchibiru" reachs no. 1 on the Oricon Chart. 06.09- Hisashi's Solo Book "Arigato" goes on sale. 07.20- "Glay Arena Tour '97- Hit the World " starts with 18 shows in total nationwide. 08.18- "However" reachs no. 1 on the Oricon Chart. 09.13- "Glay Arena Tour '97- Hit the World September" opens and consists of 6 shows nationwide. 10.01- "Review- Best of Glay" released and makes 3 million within the first week making it the biggest selling CD to enter the Oricon Chart at no. 1. 11.29- The 30th All-Japan Yusan Award is given to Glay. 11.30- Glay holds a Street Video Concert which attracts 27,000 fans. The concert is called "Hit The World Street Film Gig". 12.05- They recieved the 30th Japan Yusan Award. 12.31- "Beloved" gets the '97 Japan Records Award, "However" receives Japan Records Outstanding Musical Acheivement Award. - Glay also made their first appearence on the popular year end show 'Kohaku Utagassen'. 1998 02.16- "Review- Best of Glay" becomes the Oricon Chart best selling CD of all time. 03.01- "Pure Soul" CD was recorded with the help of musicians, entertainers, comedians, and radio DJ who are all friends with the guys. 03.02- recieved an Award at the 35th Japan Golden Arrow Award ceremony. 03.04- received: best rock album of the year, best music video of the year, and artist of the year at the 12th Japan Gold Disc Award ceremony. 04.17- 150,000 fans show up for "TDK presents Glay Tour '98 Pure Soul". The show was nationwide with 53 shows. 05.11- "Yuwaku" enters the Oricon Chart at no.1 well "Soul Love" enters the same chart at no.2 letting Glay hold the top 2 spots on the chart. 05.18- Five shows had to be postponed after Hisashi broke his leg during the tour. 05.30- Hisashi recovers to play Osaka Koseinenkin Kaiakan. 07.02- Glay's 10th anniversary. 08.08- "Summer of '98" Tour has 13 shows nationwide with attract 50,000 fans. 08.10- Glay takes the Oricon Chart again with Pure Soul entering at no. 1. 08.17- "Pure Soul Tour '98" Video enters at no. 1 on the Oricon Chart. 12.07- "Be With You" enters the Oricon Chart at no. 1. 12.21- "Summer of '98" video enters the Oricon Chart at no. 1. 12.31- "Pure Soul" receives album of the year award at the Japan Record Award ceremony. - Glay appears on 'Kohaku Utagassen' year end show again. 1999 02.09- Jiro releases his first Solo Book "Caramel Books" 02.10- 75,000 fans show up to the 15 shows held for the "Glay Dome Tour Pure Soul 1999" 02.15- Winter Again enters the Oricon Chart at no. 1. 03.17- Two shows were preformed for the "Glay Pure Soul Tour in Okinawa". 03.27- Glay prefroms 7 shows during the "Glay Pure Soul Tour in Hokkaido". 04.16- "Complete Works" Playstation version CD-ROM released. 04-20- "N.Y.C Shuffle Glay" photograph book on sale.
