Russell G. Kress, age 91 of Lake George, died Thursday September 14, 2006 at the Isabella County Medical Care facility in Mt. Pleasant. Celebration of his life was held on Monday, September 18, 2006 at the Campbell-Stocking Family funeral home with Pastor Jane Ellen Johnson officiating.

Mr. Kress was a lifelong resident of Lake George. Russell was born on June 29, 1915 to Harry and Ellen (Smedley) Kress in Lake George. He worked on the pipeline for the Gas Companies around Lake George for most of his life. On September 14, 1940 he married Jayne Lee Braden in Lake George. He was a Charter Member of the Lake George Booster Club.

He is survived by 3 sons; JH of Lake George, Dean and wife Theresa of Lake, Bryan of Lake George, 6 daughters; Sandra (Clark) Shapter of Lake, Nancy Chappell of Lake George, Sharon (Phil) Sprague of Lake George, Karren (Jerry) Musson of Lake, Dawn (Brian) Normant of Edison, New Jersey, Jeanne (Dan) Ostrander of Vassar,; twenty-five grand children, 28 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jayne, a brother Elmer, and 5 sisters; Goldie Lambert, Donna Byington, Bessie Byington, Laura Blain, and Maysel Host.
