Girard

Spaulding Township, Michigan Aleta (Sawatzki) Girard was welcomed home by our Lord on October 27, 2005. She was born in Spaulding Township on November 19, 1921, attended St. Mary School and married Claude Girard on June 29, 1938. Aleta, along with Claude, was a charter member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church; she was active in the Altar Society and a member of the Catholic League of Women.

Aleta poured her heart into homemaking -- gardening, canning, cooking, baking and especially sewing. An accomplished, self-taught seamstress, she created beautiful clothing for herself and others. She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidering and crafts.

Aleta had such a heart for giving gifts. Friends and family alike were delighted to receive her handmade treasures through the years. While she celebrated every holiday, Christmas was her favorite. She began planning what each grandchild and great grandchild would receive in August! Family was the light of her life. She spent her years caring for and bringing joy to others. By her presents and her presence, she made the world a much more beautiful place.

Aleta is survived by son Jim (Lori Lambert), two granddaughters Cheryl (Mike Crane), Nancy (Mike Jones) and five great grandchildren Joshua, Zachary and Rebekah (Crane), and Barrett and Nolan (Jones).
