Susan Darnell Robertson, 83, of Lexington, widow of Beverly W. Robertson, died Saturday, May 29, 2004.
Born June 18, 1920, in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Matthew Cotton Darnell and Ermina Jett Darnell. She graduated in 1938 from Frankfort High School and was a graduate of Bowling Green Business University. She had been employed by the Kentucky Department of Education in Frankfort, Kentucky Department of Mines and Minerals in Lexington, the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Lexington, and Southern Hills United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church, a member of the administrative board, and was the administrative assistant for the first 15 years of the existence of Southern Hills. She was a former member of the chancel choir and a member of Meade Shotwell Circle of the church. She had been a volunteer patient representative at St. Joseph Hospital, a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Lansdowne Homemakers, the Central Kentucky Computer Society, and the Kentucky Historical Society.
She is survived by three sons, Stuart Robertson, Tallahassee, Fla., Doc Robertson, Winchester, and Duffy Robertson, Lexington; six grandchildren, Ivan Matthew Robertson, Dublin, Ireland, Nicholas Robertson and Susanna Stuart Robertson, Tallahassee, Fla., Christianne Robertson Janes, Louisville, Bo Woolsey Robertson, Richmond, and Lily Corrina Miracle Robertson, Lexington; four great grandsons, Michael Stuart Robertson and John Matthew Robertson, Dublin, Ireland, and John Matthew Janes and Lucas Keith Janes, Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Southern Hills United Methodist Church by Dr. Donald Herren, Dr. Wayne Bishop, and the Rev. Lewis Ricketts. Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery. W.R. Milward Mortuary-Southland was in charge of arrangements,
