Dorothy M. Huggins of Cadillac passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 at Mercy Hospital Cadillac. She was 88.
Mrs. Huggins was born on Feb. 27, 1919 to Andrew J. and Florence (Bell) McClain in Tustin. She married Carl Huggins Dec. 20, 1935 at the Pisgah Heights Church in Marion.
During her work life, Mrs. Huggins was employed as a nurse in the Detroit area initially and then worked at Mercy Hospital Cadillac for 10 years.
During her leisure time, Mrs. Huggins was involved in square dancing, traveling with other senior citizens, and she also bowled.
Mrs. Huggins was a resident of Green Acres Retirement Living in Cadillac. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Green Acres and to the staff of the intensive care unit at Mercy Hospital Cadillac for their kind, personal and professional service. Mrs. Huggins was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Huggins is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Huggins is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Huggins; sister, Goldie McClain; brothers, Jay and Frank McClain; half-sisters, Hazel (Waite) Welliver and Anna (Waite) Maitree; and half-brother, Roy Waite.
Cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held later in the spring. Interment will be in Maple Valley Cemetery in Osceola County.
Arrangements are being handled by Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home in Cadillac.
