to -
My parents who supported me when I was broke and to my friends who
lifted me when I was down. -
My parent organization The Nation, an independent national daily
and especially Resident Editor Prof. Khalid Mehmood and News Editor Mr.
Muhammad Farooq-uz-Zaman Khan, who encouraged me to write as much as I
can. -
All those who died high on the mountains and took away a part of me
with them. -
To the mountaineers who shared with me their feelings and passion
for alpinism. -
Mr Herman Tauber from Italy who was my first story on
mountaineering in 1994. -
Taleh Muhammad former Director Operations, Ministry of Tourism, who
was an asset in true sense. -
Mr. H. Adams Carter, Editor American Alpine Journal, who recognized
my 1994 reports and played an inspirational role for my continuing in this
profession. -
Dr Jean Hoerni, Swiss micro chip inventor who sponsored so many
educational projects in Northern Pakistan and gave hope where there was
none before. -
Mr. Hiroshima Mitsuo who visited Pakistan 56 times and wrote many
books on Pakistan considering it as his second home. He died pursuing his
passion in Pakistan scaling Skilbrum. He wanted to climb and celebrate a
number of events falling with the 1997 Golden Jubilee of Pakistan. -
Ms Alison Hargreaves laid to rest on K-2, who had an aura about
her, which was special in its own way. -
Ms Chantal Maudit and Ms Hyun Ok Ji who shared some very lively
aspects of their lives and also special in their own way. -
Mr. Miroslav Sveticic Sloco, he was one of a kind. -
Mr. Rob Hall and Mr Scott Fischer who died on Everest following the
principles. -
Mr. Michael Koblmuller who was so full of life. -
Mr. Mihai Cioroianu who lost his smile on K-2. -
Mr. Amman Khan man of many of dreams but died so young. -
Felix
Inurrategi who was real gem in his own
way. -
Dr Andrzej
Zawada, the man who gave mountaineering new horizons. -
Porters who are climbers without glory and for all those who risked
their lives in rescue operations high on the mountains. -
Special thanks are to Mr Kashif Raheem as making this project was a
test of patience for both of us and Dr. Greg Mortenson who edited the front page. Dear Friends this website is a humble tribute from my side for alpinism. All possible care has been taken in the reporting of the facts, however there will be mistakes and I will be glad if they are pointed out. It will expedite the corrections. Currently efforts are underway to present another website for 2001 which will have work of four years from 1997 onwards. Your feed back is of great importance as I seek that thing from you for my moral support. PS (the site is under construction and it will regularly be updated with photos which are missing currently). Sincerely Asem Mustafa |
