Spanish climbers cum movie stars go for filming & climbing Chogolisa

ISLAMABAD
— Spanish climbers cum movie stars left for Chogolisa on Monday morning
to climb as well as make a movie on the Duke of Abruzzi's exploits in the
Karakorum Region.
The five member climbing cum acting squad is preparing a documentary to highlight the achievements of the Duke who explored the region in early 1900's.
The
team besides making the documentary will attempt the peak Chogolisa 7650
metres in Semi Alpine Style from the East Ridge.
Forty-two
year old Jose Carlos Timayo is leading the expedition and will vie for
making the second Spanish ascent on the peak. The first Spanish ascent was
recorded in 1986 and Chogolisa remained in restricted zone for a
considerable time and till date very ascents have been made on the peak.
Sebestian
Alvaro (47) speaking on behalf of the expedition said," The Duke of
Abruzzi was the son of Spain and the film is made to honour his
exploration in the Karakorums."
"The
climbers will all be attired in early 20th Century dresses."
"We
will make the Base Camp at 4200 metres and others camps will be made
accordingly with weather and snow conditions."
Spanish
TV star cum producer Juan Lazkano who is taking care of the expedition in
Islamabad said," It is a historical movie and we will try to create
what it was like to explore the region 100 years ago."
The
other climbers are Jesus Martin (35), Ferran Latorre (33) and Iniaki
Vincinti (32).
