Four Germans leave for Nameless Peak for making Ist ascent

ISLAMABAD — Four member German team left for    Nameless peak in the Trango Tower region in the early hours of Monday morning.

The Nameless Peak offers 5718 metres and 45 year old Harald Gorol is leading the side.

"This will be the first attempt on the peak which offers a near vertical wall of 1500 metres," said Harald who visited Pakistan in 1994, reaching 7300 metres on Broad Peak thrice.

"The base starts from 4000 metres and wall goes all the way up to 5000 metres with avalanches and rock falls."

"The grade is around 5.10," he said adding," The hardest portion of the climb comes afterwards and it is around 500 to 600 metres of vertical climb finishing near the summit."

All the climbers except leader are visiting the country for the first time.

"We will decide the route when we reach there and it can be from anywhere as the peak is unclimbed and has no name," said Arnold Kaltwasser (37) member of the expedition.

The other two expedition members are Rolf Wurster (41) and Tomas Regelmann (35).

The group overall has been active in the alps and has done many a climbs Europe ad South America. Tomas and Harald have made unsuccessful attempts on Shishapangama and Broad Peak separately.
