Climber returns after getting injured

ISLAMABAD — Thomas Callaghan returned  from Latok I after he got  injured on the mountain.

Thomas member of the two man team led by Thomas Nonis said," It was terrible and I had no option but to pull out."

"The second Tom is there and he will come with the equipment in middle of August."

"We had terrible bad weather for 19 days, we were successful in carrying few of the loads up to 5500  metres making three, four trips  but afterwards the knee injury stopped me to pursue the climb."

Two member expedition was taking on the unclimbed North Ridge of Latok I,  7145 metres offering a steep angle of 60 degrees and more from the Base Camp at 4500 metres to 6500 metres. The portion which offers mostly rock.

"The climb was mostly rock and ice and it was hard," said Thomas who is leaving on Saturday (today).
