Koreans record millennium ascent on K-2

ISLAMABAD
— Four more Koreans climber made the summit of K-2, 8611 metres making
it the millennium ascent on the 'Savage Mountain'.
According
to a message received from the Base Camp at 5000 metres four Korean made
the summit on June 28.
The
four climbers are Soon-Ook Yoo (27),
Chi-Won Yun (30), Byung-Chan Kim (34) and Jung-Hyun Lee (29).
They
are the from the same expedition which made the summit of K-2 on June 26.
The
expedition is led by 40 year old Sung-Won Lee and is the first expedition
which has made a record ascent of putting eight out of 11 climbers on the
summit.
Koreans
are the first in the season to scale the peak which has been elusive to
the climbers since 1997 season.
