Petzl Tibloc -- By Steve Matthys |
The Tibloc is a pretty good accender for a back up or if you want to carry as little weight as you possibly can. It fits rope sizes from 10mm to 12mm and weighs only 39g. This is quick to set up, but it is also easy to set it up wrong. It should only be used with oval or round stock biners. I like this accender a lot, but I would recomend it as a back up, not as a primary accender. |

Black Daimond Half Dome -- By Steve Matthys |

This is a classic helmet. It is light weight and very comfortable. It has good vents on the side of the helmet to keep you cool at those crux moves. It has an abosorbant brow pad which keeps the sweat out of your eyes. This helmet also comes with its own head lamp attachments. I use this helmet all the time on long multi-pitch trad climbs and it never gets uncomfortable. I highly recomend buying one of this helmets. |

A nice daisy chain, I prefer the sewn spectra version the best because it seems to be more durable. |

Wild Country Ropeman II -- By Matt Brejcha |

One sweet piece of gear, I am still finding other uses than ascending for it. Thirty dollars was well spent on this. It's small, light, durable, versitile, etc.... This thing comes close to being my favorite piece of gear. From tightening ziplines to ascending ropes this puppy does it all. That's right I said puppy and I said from ziplines to ascending which is Z-A, a little backwards I think it was. I should stop now. |

Mini Traxion -- By Steve Matthys |
This pully has a built in cam that acts like an ascender. It works with ropes 8mm-13mm. This pully works great for hauling or on tyrolean traverses. This is a good addition to any rack as it can be adapted to almost any situation. For $60 it is not the cheapest alternative, but with the extra money spent you get a durable pully/ascender that will not let you down. |

PMI TRE -- By Steve Matthys |
The TRE is a belay/rappel device that will lock under stress, and the best part is that it is made for two ropes!!!! It can take ropes 7.5-11mm. It does not feed large diameter ropes very easy, and takes a little getting use to when used for rappel and lowering the leader. It is important to fully read the directions before use, as it takes practice to be able to set it up right. This is a god send for climbers on mixed routes and for routes where dual ropes are needed, althought like all auto-locking belay devices, it should not be used to belay on trad. |

BD 5 Step Etrier -- By Matt Brejcha |
There etriers are pretty nice. They have steps on both the left and right side which can be an advantage and a disadvantage. The good thing about this is that it is easier to slide your feet into the step and it is easier to stand on two steps at the same time. The bad thing is that if you get your feet mixed up then stepping up is hard and a pain the ass. All in all these are good etriers that I would recomend. |
