Pete's Page

This page is for a repeat customer and friend, Pete Greathouse. "Wally" and I go back a few years when he was the lead guitar player for a band I was in. This is the end result of him putting down the "axe" and picking up a bow.

This is Pete's first "wall hanger". He was taken on Nov. 26th 1993. The buck is a 10pt. with one broken tine. He dressed at 220lbs. and has a 19 1/2" inside spread. The funny part about this buck is the fact that Pete didn't choose to be in the stand where he took this deer. Because of an ice storm, he was forced to go to this stand site. The first two treestands were iced up to badly to get into. This buck was taken at 10 yards by a very greatful hunter. The arrowhead plaque was made by a friend named Tommy Roe. Tom was also one of the guys responsible for Pete getting into the sport.

This buck was taken on Nov 11th 2000. The buck dressed at 190lbs. with a 19 1/2" inside spread and is a 8 pt. He was taken at 17 yards and expired only 15 yards from where he was shot. The funny thing about this buck was the fact that when Pete first saw him he was about 400 yards away and in his landowners yard and only 20 yards from Pete's truck. The landowner's wife came out into the yard to yell at their dog who was raising hell about the buck and the doe he was chasing being in the yard. Pete thought that was it, the buck would be gone. Not the case, the doe took off running and ended up directly under Pete's stand. Not to much later the buck came in right behind her. After the shot, the buck ended up running into 3 different trees which kept turning him around. This is how the deer ended up 15 yards away from where the shot was taken. The mount was done by Terry Dordan of Streator IL. and I made the state plaque.

This is the end result of a request made by Pete for something original to put his deer pins in. He wanted a smaller plaque to mount the pins on and through talking back and forth we came up with this end product. It is 3/4" oak, about 2" all the way around. Then 1/4" oak paneling behind. The outside edge has got a decorative edge and the inside has been rounded over. The black felt was then added and a red rope to add some contrast was added last. Pete has 2 shotgun pins and 32 bow pins to his credit, in the last 11 years. Pete is a good hunter and an even better shot. He could probably hit a hair on a fly's ass at 30 yards. Pete would also like to thank Mike Hoerning for all the support and help. And of course to his wife Inge for all the help and understanding through the years. The last tribute of course goes to Fred Bear, in my opion the "Father" of bowhunting.
