Good job to those who attended the Dulles Tournament! Because we did not stay for the awards ceremony, we do not know of scores or rankings (yet). But it was fun! Those who missed it should definitely come to the University of Houston tournament.

Speaking of which, for people who signed up and/or are interested in the tournament at UH on Saturday, February 14, there will be a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, February 10 after school at 2:45 in Mr. Polk's room (715). Please bring $5 (bus fees) and your travel forms, which are found under the Members section (Note: If you have already turned in your forms during the Dulles Tournament, you do not need to bring them again).

January 25, 2009

For everyone planning to attend the Dulles Tournament on Saturday, January 31, remember to attend the meeting on Tuesday, January 27!

On another note, there is a tournament at the University of Houston on Saturday, February 14. Signup sheets are available in Mr. Polk's room (715). There is no charge for these tests, just a $5 bus fee. More information about this tournament will be posted soon.

January 20, 2009

Hope everyone had a good winter break and made it through the grueling week of finals.
For those of you going to the Dulles Tournament, please attend the meeting on Tuesday, January 27 in Mr. Polk's room (715) at 2:30 after school. Remember to bring dues ($5), parent consent form and emergency travel form (both found under "Members" section), bus fee ($5) and test fees ($5/test).

The UH Tourney was a success. There were many many schools there; over 600 tests were taken! Thus, there was a lot of competition for us ~15 test takers which explains our lack of trophies this tournament. And our winners are:

Sixth Place Algebra I: Dennis Wang
Fourth Place Calculus: Scott Bowen
First Place Statistics: Young Hoon Chung

Be sure to congratulate them if you see them!

NOTICE: THE BUS WILL BE LEAVING AT 6:45, NOT 6:55 -2/15/08

A member's list has been created for the 2007-2008 school year. All members who wish to attend Math Club tournaments MUST have everything turned in: dues, parent consent forms, and emergency travel forms. These are all required for the upcoming University of Houston tournament this Saturday! Sign up for tests TOMORROW, THURSDAY FEBRUARY 14TH and also PAY YOUR BUS FEES. They'll be $5 and you can't get on the bus unless you pay this money. However, the tests are free, so be sure to come.

Some reminders for this Saturday:

We'll be meeting at 6:30 a.m. on the breezeway. We're NOT going to wait for last minute people. The bus will be gone by 6:45, so be there promptly!

If you have forms to turn in, bring them to the breezeway this Saturday if you forget to beforehand. We'll still let you on the bus if you get everything turned in (bus fees and dues included).

Bring money for lunch; about 15 dollars should be sufficient.

Be sure to bring stuff like homework, cards, board games, mah jong, or whatever to kill the time between tests and other waiting periods.

TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO COME!

-Math Club Officers

Hey guys! Kempner Tourney's today and pictures are available in picture sections! We rocked!
BUT!! Before y'all get too excited, Here's an very important message from Wendy. It applies to everyone of you so please read carefully.
As you know, the Kempner tournament was today (and btw we rocked that joint and completely owned and WE BEAT CLEMENTS). But aside from CLHS's awesome performance today, we have some issues. Nine people who signed up did not show today. You are expected to show up when you sign up for a tournament. If you don't show, your tests still have to be paid for. This happened at for the Katy-Taylor tournament as well, although not on such a large scale.
Everyone who did not show up still owes their test fees to our club. Please get these taken care of as soon as possible. Until you do, you will not be eligible for honor cords, to run for office, to go to any future tournaments, or any other MAO activities. It will carry over to next school year as well.
Below is a list of what you owe. If you did not show at the Kempner tournament, you lost the free $4 that our club was orginally going to pay for you.
Alice Niu $4.00
Andy Wang $6.00
Avery Hsu $5.50
Crystal Hu $6.00
Emily Venardos $5.25
Michael Zhang $7.25
Philip Lin $7.00
Scott Bowen $7.75
Steven Truong $4.00
Tommy Luong $11.00
Vikraman Parthiban $7.00
Vivian Ban $4.00
