| In order to keep swim team fees to a minimum and to keep the meets running in an orderly fashion, swimmer's families are required to volunteer their time throughout the season. There are over 50 jobs that need to be filled at each home meet. Signing up and fulfilling your volunteer obligation is essential for the continued viability of the FINS. In the event that you are unable to meet your commitment, you are responsible to arrange for a suitable substitute and you must notify the Volunteer Coordinator of this change. VOLUNTEER DUTIES Timer: Approximately 18-22 timers are needed for each meet. They are divided into two shifts - first half and second half. Their job consists of operating a stopwatch and timing each heat. Instructions will be given before each meet as to proper timing procedure. Tent Area/Ready Area: Six volunteers (three per half) are needed to gather the children for their heats and to maintain order. These volunteers place swimmers in the proper order for each heat as they are called. Runner/Card Collector: Four volunteers (two per half) are needed to pass out cards to timers and to collect the cards after each heat is completed and then to deliver the cards to the scoring table. Meet Scorer: Four volunteers (two per half) are needed. These volunteers allocate the proper number of points to each team as each heat is completed. Ribbon Writer: Six volunteers (three per half) are needed. These volunteers fill out ribbon information as the heats are completed. Filer: Two volunteers (one per half) are needed to put the ribbons in each swimmer's file. Stroke and Turn: This is a certified position. Judges must attend a training session each year. Four volunteers are needed (two per half). They judge stroke accuracy, kick, water entry, finish and overall compliance with Clear Creek Swim League rules. Concession Stand: Nine volunteers are needed (three per shift). These volunteers staff the concession stand and take orders and complete sales. Cook: Two cooks (one per shift) are needed at home meets to prepare the food that is sold at the concession stand. |
