A word about

Cleveland Chapter of the PTG Publications.

To the chapter: As editor/publisher of the Cleveland Chapter Publications I have developed and use the following guidelines for our chapter's publications. The following are my personal views as to what best serves our chapters needs versus my own limitations.

Butts and Flanges U.S. Mail version

(In order of priority)

  1. Inform members, and guest/perspectives of meeting times and location.
  2. Increase participation of members by keeping them informed of technical topics and things going on at meetings.
  3. Relay information from the Board and (as space allows) other members.
  4. Encourage prospective members to join by getting to know us and what we do.
  5. Previous meeting technical review (as space allows)

NOTE: Technical review is not to critique or re-teach the technical but more to inform as what you missed by not being at the meeting. Also to give credit and a thank you to the instructor.

Limits; Publication is once a month. and on one sheet of paper, max legal size.

Butts and Flanges Email version

To do the same as U.S. mail version without the limitations of SIZE, Speed , and cost. This allows; near instant delivery, photos, better appearance, use of color, articles of interest from other chapter newsletters, information from local members (i.e. things for sale)

Butts and Flanges Meeting follow up

To inform missing members of things discussed and decided at the meeting. This is another opportunity to remind members of what has been going on in the chapter, give another chance to be involved, and time to plan for it.

The Web page

A more extensive collection of chapter information.

  1. Next meeting information
  2. The most current newsletter
  3. Future meeting technical
  4. Perspective member information
  5. A list of officers
  6. Chapter bylaws
  7. An archive of 3 past months newsletters and follow ups
  8. Future web projects

As the editor I have final approval of all publications.

However I do use a review of publication by several chapter members which include Jim Moon, Bob Bergantino, and Rod Summerlin, THANK YOU ALL. (This review group is open to any that wish to participate. Just let me know)
