Elections      Nominations for the office of president and vice president went un-answered at last months meeting. They will be open again in April and again before  the election in May as will all offices. Your nominations will be most welcome. In addition please  read carefully and consider the following.

To the Cleveland Chapter of PTG:

As you are all aware by now, our Nominating Committee has been unable to come up with a candidate for
President for the 2003-2004 year.  Bob Bergantino would be willing to remain in that role, but Chapter Bylaws
limit Presidential terms to two years.

We have learned that this is a Chapter bylaw and is not the position of the PTG on national level as local bylaws are not necessarily the same as the national bylaws.

It is possible to amend the bylaws for this rule for the coming year.  It requires the membership to be informed of
the intention of doing this which should lead to discussion at the next Chapter meetings prior to the election.
A vote of the Chapter membership then must be taken to approve or disapprove this change to the bylaws.

The current bylaw reads:

Sec 3. Their terms of office shall be from June 1st through May 31.      The President and Vice-President may serve no more than two (2) consecutive terms in the same office.     The other officers my serve beyond a second
consecutive term if elected by a three-fourths (3/4) Majority vote of the Chapter members present at the election
 meeting.

(Proposed Change:) Their terms of office shall be from June 1st through May   31.      The President,
Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer  may serve beyond a second consecutive term if elected by a three-fourths (3/4) Majority vote of the Chapter members present at the election meeting
.

(Procedure) Sec 3. Such resolutions shall be considered by the membership, which shall, by proper vote,
recommend either adoption or rejections,     after which such resolution shall lie on the table until the next
regular meeting. At that time it shall be debated, may be amended and shall be either adopted or rejected.
If adopted it shall be effective forthwith. If rejected, it may not be reintroduced until the next regular meeting,
at which time it shall have the status of a new resolution.

In May it gets discussed and voted on. If passed Bob Bergantino would not be eligible to hold the office until
elected at the June meeting.  as per sec 4. Article VIII
    Power of Amendment

Sec 4. The Bylaws of the Chapter may be amended by a majority vote of the members in good standing at any
 properly constituted meeting
except that the rescinding of any existing Bylaw shall not become effective until the next meeting.

Translation  Amendment read and discussed in April, then set aside. Debated and voted in May. If passed
unchanged, takes effect in June. So if you wish to retain our current President we elect all other officers except
President in May and leave the Presidency open/unfilled. Bob current term runs until the last day of May. At
which point our new VP will have to fill in for the open position. The VP gets to open the meeting in June and calls
for an election to fill the post of President of which Bob B is now eligible to hold.

FYI..... This proposal does not close      Nominations  for  chapter  officers  they will be opened at our April and
 May
meeting regardless of what happens to this bylaw.

In Other News .  It was nice to see seven (7) members of our chapter attend the Pittsburgh PA. Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference. I now have some new toys/tools to play with and was able to apply some tips I picked up on my first day back.   D Bratton
